writing a policy

things to think about when writing a volunteers policy within your organisation:

 - who has written the rest of the organsiations policies - perhaps with your help they should be the person writing the volunteer policy?

- if you are writing it make sure it is in a similar style to other policies in the organisation so that there is congruence

- make sure that representatives from within the organisation who engage with volunteers are consulted at every stage to ensure ownership and buy in of the policy

Does anybody have any examples of good and bad policies ( for a training workshop).

Hi there Dorothea - here's an example volunteer policy from the AVM wiki that might be useful to compare notes. Let me know. Happy to talk any of it through. Patrick

I have examples of a good/bad application form and good/bad dealing with problems policy that I use for training.  If you e-mail me (kbowgett@museumoflondon.org.uk) I can send them to you.
