Volunteering officer position - based Abingdon - British Red Cross - closes 3rd March

wherever they are.

 

The Thames Valley Area Volunteering Department is working to encourage teams and partnerships, provide a flexible response to meet the range of needs of individuals, improve our visibility in the community, and bring evolutionary change which gives the opportunity for people to develop within our organisation.

 

This post will work alongside similar posts based in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, as part of a team to:

 

  • Increase the number and diversity of Red Cross volunteers to match the requirements of Red Cross services and activities in the county.  To improve the retention of volunteers and ensure that they have the training and support they need.
  • Support staff and key volunteers in their recruitment and management of volunteers.
  • Be a focal point for volunteering matters in the county, both for Red Cross colleagues and for external organisations.
  • Be area-wide liaison for all matters regarding volunteer advice and management.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced in volunteer recruitment and in the voluntary/nor for profit sector, They will have experience in training and/or Human Resources and have knowledge of volunteer management and be available for work during both social and non-social hours (evenings and weekends). This post will require travel regularly throughout Oxfordshire and periodically into Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
