£41,615, Location: Near Haywards Heath, Sussex

As the UK's leading cat welfare charity we currently have the following vacancy at our National Cat Centre, on the edge of the Ashdown Forest:

Our 7300 volunteers give over 3.4m hours of their time to raise funds for the care of cats. We estimate this is worth £42m to us in financial terms. We have ambitious plans to recruit and develop an additional 700 volunteers each year.

 

The Volunteering Manager will provide leadership, support and recognition of our Volunteers across the charity. This is a challenging and rewarding position working in a large charity at the forefront of animal welfare.

 

The role

 

  • Lead on and champion volunteering across the charity
  • Deliver the volunteering strategy  focusing on recruitment, retention and development of our volunteers
  • Contribute to multi-site volunteering development programmes in conjunction with the Learning and Development Team.
  • Develop and manage processes and procedures to support and recognise our volunteers
  • Establish appropriate measures for recognising the number of volunteers within the charity and their impact on our work
  • Represent the charity with both internal and external audiences
  • Contribute to the overall development of the Human Resources function

 

The Candidate

 

  • Direct experience of working with volunteers in a similar role
  • Proven track record of working at a senior level in a large charity
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to influence senior management and challenge the status quo
  • Experience of developing and implementing volunteering strategies
  • Participative leadership skills with an ability to take an informed overview of  all volunteering issues
  • Sound understanding of best practice and legislation in relation to volunteering
  • Outstanding influencing skills
  • Acts as a strategic partner working at all levels across the organisation
  • Resilient and solutions focused
