Volunteer Support Manager - Maternity Cover

Hours per week: 35

Salary: Up to £28,000 pa pro rata

Contract Length: 10 months from mid August 2010 to June 2011

We have over 1,200 volunteers across the UK working in a wide variety of roles to support the work of CLIC Sargent.  This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to ensure the smooth running and development of volunteering across the charity.

Responsibilities include providing ongoing volunteering support to employees, helping to deliver new initiatives such as CLIC Sargent's internship programme, developing volunteering and work experience opportunities for children and young people with cancer, and implementing a volunteer communications plan.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, motivated and passionate about volunteering, and must have a strong track record of developing and working with volunteers, as well as some knowledge of the resources available to volunteer-involving organisations.  They will also need excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and be highly focused within a busy and proactive department.

CLIC Sargent provides treatment, care and practical support to children and young people with cancer and to their families and friends.  In the next 24 hours 10 children will be told they have cancer.  You can play a crucial role in helping them live life to the full.
