Over the last 150 years Battersea has cared for over 3.1 million lost and abandoned dogs and cats and has become perhaps the best known animal refuge in the world. Known to millions across the UK, we have secured a very special place in the hearts of the nation.
Whatever their age, condition or need, we take in dogs and cats that simply have nowhere else to go. We aim never to turn a dog or cat away and every day we get around 22 new dogs and 7 cats brought to our doors.
With an incredible team of dedicated staff and volunteers we make sure that every animal coming into our care is given a second chance in life and a second chance of their own real life happy ending.
Sitting at the heart of the Home this is a really exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of our ambitious volunteer strategy during an exciting period of major organisational growth and development. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment and who will drive forward a step change in our volunteering. You will be instrumental to the future success of the Home in recruiting, developing and supporting our increasing volunteer ranks across the UK, so you will be someone who is able to manage multiple projects, seize opportunity, be innovative and motivating. You will be adept at creating, growing and driving community based volunteer groups; maximising the support we currently receive from volunteers, and very importantly ensuring our volunteers are recruited, trained and supported effectively.
A first class communicator, you’ll be fantastic with people and have a passion for the animals in our care. Working with animals can be emotive, so you will need to be able to resolve any issues or conflict quickly and decisively.
Please apply online at www.battersea.org.uk where you can also download an application pack containing the job description and person specification.
