Radio 4 phone-in on "The value of volunteering"

UPDATE: Here's a link (MP3) to the audio from the programme on Tuesday. Rachael Bayley, UK Director of CSV's RSVP and recently appointed on the Board of Directors of AVM took part in the discussion. Rachael was joined in the studio by Russell Brooks, Chair of the Young Achievers Trust. Many others took part in an interesting and thought-provoking discussion. Be great to get your thoughts.
The Radio 4 programme You and Yours is going to have a phone-in tomorrow Tuesday 11 August (10am-1pm) about the 'Value of Volunteering'. It would be great if volunteer managers called the programme to put their perspective. Here's the trailer for the programme:
As the Prime Minister spends some of his summer break helping out on a community project - we ask, who benefits from volunteering?
Does "giving something back" offer its own rewards or is it just a way of brushing up your CV?
Has volunteering opened up new opportunities for you or left you feeling that employers are just using you to bolster their work force? Are you put put off by the increasing amount of paperwork and checks that need to be carried out before you can get involved...or perhaps you just can't afford to work for nothing? Has the increasing "professionalisation" of charity work put you off giving up your time to help?
Has the altruistic nature of volunteering been lost?
