involving ex offenders in volunteering

WE have recently decided to involve ex offenders within the volunteering aspect of our organisation. Does anyone out there have some sort of policy/procedure,do's and don'ts that I can look at? I really want this to go ahead but our management committee insist on a separate policy before we can implement this. Any ideas? please!
