Problems contacting The Guardian about advertising

Sep
06

Hi all

I wondered if anyone else is having problems contacting The Guardian to advertise your volunteer vacancies?

I've been advised that they will do this free of charge and to contact sales@guardian.co.uk - which I have tried to no avail. I have then tried jobs.help@guardian.co.uk (through a link on their sire so definitely spelling everything right) but again I am receiving an error stating that my email was rejected.

Do you include ethnic monitoring for volunteers?

Aug
12

Hello all.

A thought just went through my head, and I thought I would post it out to you for comment.

We do not include ethnic monitoring forms for volunteer applicants - probably for the reason that thre would not necessarily be a shortage of volunteers from one ethnicity or another, I guess.

But should we?  Although our policies on equal opportunities and volunteer recruitment are robust, should we be seen to do more, or would another piece of paper (which may not be used, in all honesty)  just be a waste?

Too many volunteers

Jul

Is anyone else experiencing a flood of volunteers?  Our roles are very specific and require a lot of training and induction so how do we filter applicants appropriately within the time constraints of already very busy management roles to ensure we are recuiting those who are serious applicants?  Suggestions welcome.

Advice for festivals on how to recruit volunteers

Jan
26

Hi,

I am writing an article for a pilot magazine called Festival Business. I am looking for advice for my readers on how they can effectively recruit volunteers. Is it more difficult to recruit volunteers in the current economic climate? Should festivals provide incentives to get people to volunteer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

A Rimmer

Obama promotes volunteering

May

VITA Europe has a number of articles looking at President Obama's Serve America Act, which "boosts national service, volunteerism, and innovative social projects". Does a national direction on volunteering harm the existing small scale efforts is one question answered (in part) at http://beta.vita.it/news/view/91466, or see background at http://beta.vita.it/news/view/91275.
