An Award from our friends in the north
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volunteer Friendly Award, a "simple, user-friendly quality standard" to support,
recognise and reward groups across Scotland who are good at involving volunteers,
has a new website at http://www.volunteerfriendly.org.uk
The standard has been developed by Volunteer Centre Dundee,
which has been funded to spread it wider.
The brief look I had showed that they have really put five simple headings
to outline good practice principles. Maybe use to some of us as a way of reviewing
what we do?

The magical help button has appeared!
If any of you have tried to figure out how to make the most of your membership, then try the help button where we can at least learn to help each other.
Thanks to a great session with Patrick, AVM web Guru, I and I hope the others have develeoped the confidence to do more then read what others put up. Thanks Patrick!

Views from Australia
On a recent trip to Australia, there was much coverage in the news about a 'think tank' type summit looking forward to 2020. The new Labour Government was looking for a few new ideas to help make Australia a better nation. There were some good ideas that I liked, for example, volunteering as a way of paying off your HECS debt (the cost of going to Uni = about A$40,000 for the standard degree) off.
